Are there any beekeepers on YA and if so, how are your bees doing this year what with CCD etc?

My bees all died this winter so I will repopulate with this spring’s swarms that people call me about.
The drought in Ca. was really rough and the girls never had a chance to build up a decent store for winter.

Eastern NC and no problems with CCD. Due to extreme drought had to plan carefully for winter and feedings ongoing. Our local concern about the CCD prompted all local beekeepers to take extra precautions about the pesticide use in our area and so far so good.

By a long way the best suits, particularly for beginning beekeepers, are the one-piece jumpsuits with a combined hood and veil. Some jumpsuits come with elastic at the handcuffs and wrists, while others have Velcro adjustments that may be used to fit the precise size of the beekeeper’s wrists and ankles. Costs will alter dependent on the materials utilized in the development of the suit and the dimensions of the person being fitted.

Nonetheless , so long as you are able to afford to buy dear suits, make certain that you will have one with top quality material.

Queenless colonies should be united with another colony, if the temperature is above fifteen centigrade. All they require in this case is heat, honey, pollen and water.
