Thanks for a quick reply. I’m getting back into beeking We had 30 hive back before my Navy stint and then the farm house burnt down, so we moved on and my wife and I are getting back into them. We didn’t have Varroa back then, or SHB so I haven’t had the opportunity to fight them yet, as ants and a couple of roaches are the only thing that is bother my hive now, I have one to break my wife into it as I was single back on the farm.
The queen will only lay unfertilized (drone) eggs in large diameter cells. Because the frame is plastic it prevents the workers from chewing out the foundation and replacing it with worker size cells. During a honey flow they will fill it with honey and drones. Sometimes the workers try to build worker size comb but they have to get pretty creative to do that and we just scrap it off if that occurs.
So, when you have a drone frame like that, do the does the queen lay only drones in it, or does she mix it up a bit? I have never used drone frames or large cells

I see you use queen excluders in this video so I guess Unlimited brood nest isn’t used. Disregard part of my previous question in video 2.
